  1.                           About Stowaway's Auto Restore
  2.  
  3.      Auto Restore is a complimentary product to Stowaway, Patri-Soft's file
  4.      archival system.  Stowaway, lets you select files to be moved off your
  5.      hard disk to inexpensive diskette storage.  The unique feature of
  6.      Stowaway is that it keeps hard disk indexes about every file it
  7.      stores.  These indexes are used to easily locate any file stored on
  8.      archive volumes without having to access the individual volumes.

  10.      When you need to restore an archived file, Stowaway lets you enter
  11.      filenames or wildcard specifications to list and select the file to be
  12.      restored.  It asks for the disk containing the file and restores it to
  13.      its proper location.  This is a manual process that must be performed
  14.      prior to accessing the file with DOS or any other application.  You
  15.      must know the file that needs to be restored.

  17.      Stowaway's Auto Restore automates this process.

  19.      Auto Restore is installed when you start your computer and resides
  20.      in your system watching all file accesses.  It detects when any
  21.      program attempts to access a file that has been archived.  It can
  22.      do this because Stowaway optionally leaves the archived file on the
  23.      hard disk with zero size and a time of 12:00am and therefore the
  24.      file occupies no space but is still visable.  When any program tries
  25.      to read or write one of these files, Auto Restore searches
  26.      Stowaway's archive indexes to verify the file is archived and, if
  27.      so, displays a window on your display to tell you an archived file
  28.      has been referenced and asks if you would like to restore it for
  29.      processing.

  31.      If you respond yes to restore the file, Auto Restore then asks you to
  32.      place the archive volume in the drive and proceeds to restore the
  33.      file.  If you respond no, Auto Restore notifys DOS, and subsequently
  34.      your program or command, the file is inaccessable.  The program or
  35.      command accessing the file will take its normal action when a file is
  36.      not accessible.

  38.      After the restore is complete, the text window is removed from your
  39.      display and the active program or command continues its normal
  40.      operation.  Auto Restore goes back to waiting for the next archived
  41.      file to be accessed.

  43.      Auto Restore gives you additional freedom to archive more files to
  44.      offline storage volumes. Since it takes care of all restore processing
  45.      automatically, you can archive files and trust they will be
  46.      immediately accessible anytime they are needed.

  48.      Since Stowaway keeps the files on your system (even though they
  49.      take NO space), you still can list and search for files as you have
  50.      always been able to do.  But they no longer take up valuable hard disk
  51.      space
